How it works
Let Sankofa Detroit transform your collection of family photographs and cherished snapshots into digital media - so that organizing, viewing, and sharing become an effortless process.
1. Mail your physical photos (up to 8.5 in x 11 in.) in a sturdy box or rigid mailer to the Sankofa Studio. Detroit locals may schedule a physical pick-up of photos .
2. Once received, the original photographs will be handled with the utmost care as they are scanned in at the ideal screen and print resolution of 300dpi. Photos can be scanned in at 600dpi for an additional fee.
3. Digitized images are then transferred to a flash drive and uploaded to the cloud via Dropbox. Images are available on Dropbox for a one month period.
4. After digitizing, original photographs can be organized and stored in archival boxes or albums. This step is optional and discussed in detail during your consultation.
5. In the final step, your original photographs along with the flash drive are mailed back in a secure package via USPS Priority Mail.
